KEVIN JACKSON: Chairman
Commencing his career with Ernst & Young, Kevin worked in Auditing, Insolvency, Corporate Advisory and the Performance Improvement Consulting areas of numerous industries. In 1996, Kevin joined the Sanitarium team and, in November 2000, was appointed CEO. He is also a director on boards in the United Kingdom, Canada, South Africa and New Zealand

GARY PASTERNACK, M.D., PhD: Interim CEO
Gary Pasternack has been in the biotechnology trenches since the late 1980's as a scientist, inventor, entrepreneur, executive, and consultant. After earning his M.D. and Ph.D. degrees from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 1978, he trained in Pathology and Anatomic Pathology at Yale. In 1984, he returned to Baltimore and joined the faculty at Johns Hopkins, where was Director of the Division of Molecular Pathology, and Director of the Graduate Program in Pathobiology through June, 2005.

In addition to his role as interim CEO of Asklepion, Dr. Pasternack is a partner in Aqua Partners , a globally active strategic advisory firm focused on life sciences industry. He is also a founder of two Baltimore companies, Intralytix, Inc., and Culterra, LLC. He holds more than fourteen issued US patents and is an inventor on over ten pending US cases. In the non-profit sector, he is a founder and board chair of The Ingenuity Project, a privately funded advanced educational program benefiting the Baltimore City schools, and board chair of Baltimore Theatre Project, an avant garde theater.


JAMES E. HEUBI, M.D.: Chief Medical Officer
At the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, Dr. Heubi is a Professor and Assistant Chair for Clinical Research in the Department of Pediatrics and Associate Dean for Clinical Research. In addition, he is the Program Director for the GCRC at the Cincinnati Childrenʼs Hospital Medical Center. Dr. Heubi is a graduate of Indiana University School of Medicine. He was a resident in pediatrics at James Whitcomb Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis and a Fellow in Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition at Cincinnati Childrenʼs Hospital Medical Center.

Dr. Heubi is a Principal Investigator on an NIH funded R01, regarding mechanisms of cholesterol absorption, on a grant from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and also coinvestigator on two other NIH funded grants. In addition, he is the Principal Investigator for the Cholestatic Liver Consortium (CLiC) which is part of the NIH funded Rare Diseases Network. Dr. Heubi has generated over 140 peer reviewed publications that focus on bile acid metabolism, complications of cholestatic liver disease, Reye Syndrome and cholesterol absorption.


KENNETH D.R. SETCHELL, Ph.D.: Chief Scientific Officer
In September 1984, Dr. Setchell left a tenured scientific position with the Clinical Research Centre of the Medical Research Council in the UK, to become the Director of a new Clinical Mass Spectrometry facility at Childrenʼs Hospital Medical Center, in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he is now a tenured Professor in the Department of Pediatrics. His research program has brought him international recognition as a leader in his areas of exploration. This acknowledgement and respect for his research, has formed collaborations with other groups from England, Italy, Germany, France, Sweden, Canada, and Australia. Dr. Setchell has been a consultant to pharmaceutical and food companies, as well as to industries involved in clinical and biochemical research. He has served on both national and international committees and editorial boards of international journals, and cites more than 275 scientific publications, and over 250 papers presented at symposia around the world. In addition, he was awarded, for his discoveries of classes of phytoestrogens, the Roche 2003 International Award for Innovative Research in Human Nutrition. He also received the 2004 Adolf Windaus Prize for research on bile acids, and the discovery of genetic defects in the cholesterol-bile acid pathway, causing liver disease.

JEFF COURTNEY:
With a Bachelor of Education and an Executive MBA from the University of NSW, Jeff moved forward, becoming an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, in Australia. To compliment his academic achievements, he acquired over twenty years of experience in business and finance with Ernst & Young, Village Roadshow Limited, Mayne Pharmaceuticals and the Sanitarium Health Food Company. He joined the Sanitarium Health Food Company in 2002, heading up the New Zealand operations. Two years later, he assumed his current role as General Manager International. Currently, he is a Director on boards in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, and South Africa.

RODNEY BRADY:
Rodney has acquired over twenty-five years of dedicated experience in the sectors of not-for-profit finance, healthcare, education, media, manufacturing, property, investments, IT, HR, corporate compliance, and governance. For over ten years, he has lived and worked in several countries and held positions requiring international focus.

Rodneyʼs Masters Degree in Leadership and Management, his being a certified practicing accountant, and being a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, has truly prepared him for his current role as Chief Financial Officer for the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in the South Pacific region. He was prepared to accommodate the diverse range of activities in more than twenty countries that collectively employ nearly 10,000 people.

Currently, his focus is on corporate and financial strategy, management, compliance, and directorships. The board positions held include: one of the largest private hospitals in Australia, two universities, health food manufacturers in several countries, an investment management company and a wide spectrum of charitable organizations. He is also chairman of a trustee company that holds considerable intellectual properties and real estate.
