XEBAM (Cholic Acid Capsules)


Xebam (cholic acid capsules) will be indicated to treat six biochemical defects in enzymes in the metabolic pathway by which cholesterol is converted to primary bile acids. Inborn errors in these enzymes result in aberrant bile acid production that is toxic and potentially fatal. There are six known defects in bile acid metabolism that may be managed by oral cholic acid therapy.

Cholic Acid offers many opportunities to fill the gap of the underserved and to satisfy patient needs that have not yet been met. Some of these opportunities include: off label uses, identification of more inborn errors, synergy with other potential bile acid products, FXR related disorders, potential use for Smith Lemley Opitz disease, and dyslipidemia.
